Context is everything. Everything that is worth a lot in one context, cannot even be given away for free in another. Take business training for example: In a college setting people gladly pay between $40,000 and $80,000 to receive an education; on the other hand, free business seminars go unattended. People pay thousands of dollars for someone to write their business plan for them, yet few seem to be interested in learning how to write one even for free.
I’ve dealt with this a few times before, but have never developed too good of an idea for overcoming it. Maybe the secret is to not depart too far from the familiar until people are ready. I guess that is one more theory to try.
