The old maxim that necessity is mother of invention has some truth to it. Good innovators are the ones who are both desperate enough and have solid faith that a better solution is possible. And yet, most inventions are not made by the people who are in the dire cercumstances, but rather people who have the time and resources to make their ideas come to a fruition. This is because innovativeness lies in the paradigm of hope, not paradigm of fear. It only happens in the environment of purpose, not purposelessness.
Just as a child does not grow up strong through being abused, but rather through being loved, cared for and supported, so does a new idea or new business desperately needs incubation. It does not mean that it has to be completely sheltered from the world, that does not work; it does mean that guidance, cheering on and occasional assistance are fundamental for every good idea.
The problem in the world today is not lack of ideas, but rather the lack of nurturing environment that would allow these ideas to come to fruition. So, before we can live a Purpose Driven Life, we must have a purpose supporting community. This community can only be built by us listening to, helping and serving one another.
