Probably the best way to describe Creativity Unleashed, the new weekly jam of musicians, artists, writers and digital media fans is in the words of one of the guests who stopped in:

“When I heard Unleashed, I expected something spectacular, lots of glitz. What I saw was nothing at all of that sort. But I liked it, will be back and will invite my friends.”

There is indeed nothing spectacular, but there is something special. People of all ages and backgrounds are coming together to work on creative projects, stretch their creative muscles and mingle with others who are working on their projects.  

Throughout the evening, it seemed that the microphone was always attracting someone: people read poetry, played music, jammed on the guitars, spoke about creativity and art. Meanwhile, their audience was not sittinging still. They were working on projects of their own. The art table had ”Squiggle” game going, where everyone starts drawing what they want, only to hand their work to the person to their left and have them continue. The writer’s table had a similar writing game going on. There were people who were sketching and talking. One table was playing Uno.

When asked if this should be done again, the overwhelming response was to turn it in to a weekly event. So, I had to comply. We are now going to be doing Creativity Unleashed weekly, as long as people seek to come out and join us during the Sunday evenings.

The only other comment was that we need to get the word out. And I that is where I ask everyone, please get the word out: There is an open mike and jam weekly gathering in the heart of Menomonee Falls that invites all people to come and unleash their form of creative expression.

A special thanks goes out to John Doorey, who has engaged everyone in the room and made this event come to live, as well as Corey and Devyn who have done much to get the word about Creativity Unleashed out to the everyone. And of course, to Sarah, who though not on the clock, took time to make pizzas to feed everyone.
