Today was the second time in my life that I was too smart to do what I was doing. The last time I was told that, the president of the corporation where I was working said it in the process of laying me off.
This time things were different. They came from the banker. He seriously looked me in the eyes and said that our management team had too much talent to run a coffee shop. He could not understand why a college business professor would team up with a finance manager, Dale Carnegie facilitator, expert on Toyota production systems, a graphic design expert and a guy who rewrote NSA’s training manuals to run a struggling coffee house.
The good news was that he was satisfied with my answer. That this is a starting point for something bigger. But more importantly it is a play project and I have every intention of having lots of fun with it.
