John has recently updated me on the progress he has made in marketing his business and I wanted to share his success story with you. Just 6 months ago, John had no idea how to market his idea: selling t-shirts that would raise awareness of testicular cancer. We talked, going through his business ideas. During the couple sessions we discussed some low cost marketing ideas and I encouraged him to go blogging.
It is not common for me that people take my advice and do it exactly as I recommended, which was why I was all the more surprised when John shared with me that he’s been blogging and linking back to his website this whole time. John never blogged before, so he did not know what to expect. What he got, surpassed even my expectations.
In this short time he has been contacted by state and national cancer programs who are interested in distributing his shirts. He has been able to reach out to a national clothing chain. His business is gaining momentum at no out of pocket cost. This has all become possible due to the power of the new media, where news travel fast and big bucks are no substitute for effective outreach.
