One of the best tests for a business is the ability to have the leaders leave without things falling apart. This frees up the most valuable people in the company to explore new opportunities. It also means that if they need a vacation they have the ability to take one. This is important, because there is a need for rejuvenation, for family, for things that really matter.
A good management team is one that spends most of the time working on the business, rather than in the business. This can only happen when the processes are solid enough to allow it, when the rest of the workforce is empowered enough to solve the problems they face, when things work like they should.
